is intended for all personnel who desire to understand the steps it takes for a
shovel operator to fill a large mining truck or hopper efficiently. The shovel’s bucket must perform 3 to 4
complete passes or dig cycles to fill the bed of the truck.
This video illustrates the shovel performing 1
complete dig cycle.
A dig cycle consists of four steps:
- Filling the bucket
- Swinging to the truck or hopper
- Dumping
- Return to dig face
